Cure Wounds, Answered
How much does Cure Wounds heal?
1d8 + your spellcasting ability modifier, at touch range. Each slot level above 1st adds another 1d8 — so a 3rd-level slot heals 3d8 + your modifier.
Cure Wounds vs Healing Word — which is better?
Healing Word, almost always. It is a bonus action at 60 feet, so you can heal and still attack or cast. Cure Wounds heals more per slot but costs your whole action and requires touching the target.
What classes get Cure Wounds?
Bard, cleric, druid, paladin and ranger — every class with a healing role. Divine Soul sorcerers also get it via the cleric list.
Does Cure Wounds work on undead?
No. It explicitly has no effect on undead or constructs — which matters if your party includes a reborn, a warforged, or an undead ally.
