4th-level Necromancy
Blight
Components: V, S
Necromantic energy washes over a creature of your choice that you can see within range, draining moisture and vitality from it. The target must make a constitution saving throw. The target takes 8d8 necrotic damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. The spell has no effect on undead or constructs.
If you target a plant creature or a magical plant, it makes the saving throw with disadvantage, and the spell deals maximum damage to it.
If you target a nonmagical plant that isn't a creature, such as a tree or shrub, it doesn't make a saving throw; it simply withers and dies.

Blight, Answered
How much damage does Blight do?
8d8 necrotic — 36 on average — with a Constitution save for half. Each slot level above 4th adds 1d8.
Does Blight work on undead?
No. Blight has no effect on undead or constructs — it drains moisture and vitality, and they have neither.
Why is Blight so strong against plants?
A plant creature or magical plant makes the save with disadvantage and takes maximum damage — 64 necrotic on a failure. A nonmagical plant such as a tree or shrub gets no save and simply dies.
Blight or Fireball at 4th level?
Blight for one target, Fireball for a crowd. Upcast to 4th, Fireball deals 9d6 (about 31) to everything in a 20-foot radius; Blight deals 8d8 (about 36) to exactly one creature — and cannot catch your friends.
